Senior Open Qualifying Standings

We have had 13 team qualifiers and 38 minor events qualifiers compete at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes for a shot at a Senior Open championship. It’s hard to measure which has been more challenging – stringing strikes or successfully submitting the online entry form. In both cases, it’s been hit or miss.

Standings indicate five of the 13 teams are over average, with Division 1 leaders Long Shots at +71 and Division 2 leaders PBR Plus Dan at +67. The high team scratch score is by defending Team Titlists Gummin’ Werthers, with 2666.

Similarly in Doubles, scores are tepid. Just under half the scores have been over average. Bill Burns and Hall of Famer Tom Smyth lead Division 1 at +48 and have the high scratch total of 1353. Curt Eckhoff and Ray Kurian top Division 2 at +46.

In Singles, though, there were some breakouts. Three of the four 700’s shot in the tournament came from Singles. Jim Fosdick leads Singles 70+ with 777 – and is in the driver’s seat for another tournament title. Dwain Holznagel shot 760, which is good for second in Division 60-64, eclipsed by Hall of Famer Lisa Kolosso’s +110 716 set. The fourth 700 (which was the first one thrown) was a 706 rolled by Ray Kurian in his team event.

Dwain Holznagel does lead scratch All Events at the moment, posting a 2091. Tracy Ehlert is tops at +71 in Division 50-54. Division 55-59 has yet to yield any positive scores. Kolosso may have an insurmountable lead in Division 60-64 where she is +166 on a 1984 scratch total. Ted Smith is leading Division 65-69 at +63, and Hall of Famer Char Clementi is +32 in Division 70+.

Two more weekends remain for teams and minors qualifying events. Nine team and 19 minor events are on tap this weekend. Entries are due the Wednesday prior to the weekend – which is more strictly enforced this year, due to the extra pandemic planning required.

Here is the Entry Form Only. Here is the Complete Tournament Entry Form. The latter has the squad times, dates, defending champions, rules, and all that.

Different operating systems behave differently. Typically, if you want to save a filled out form to print or send as an attachment, right click the page and choose Print > Save as PDF. If you ONLY save the form, it will only save the form – and not retain the information you typed in.
