Pin carry continued to be the greatest challenge for many, and it looked like line adjustments or ball changes had to be pretty good to stay out of trouble with splits. The house condition at Viking Lanes continued to confound bowlers the final weekend, though the scoring highlights were not without some extraordinary performances. There weren’t any honor scores the final weekend, but three bowlers posted 280 games – John Hjortland, Dave Shaw, and Rick Erce.
The Four Amigos, from Wildcat Lanes, vaulted into first place in the Team Event with a huge 10th frame in their third game. The team needed a double and good count by anchor bowler Steve Grabandt to surpass the Hall of Fame laden Street Rags team, and he came through to lead the team to a four pin win. Tim Rice led the team with 719.
There were a few other lead changes in the final weekend of the tournament.
