The Madison Area USBC Board of Directors recently approved a change to the management role of the Association at the request of the current manager, Bill Dennis.
Dennis sought to reduce the role from a full time to a part time position, with a commensurate reduction of salary and hours. With this change, the office will be staffed Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Events and activities outside of this scope, including tournaments, will be managed and operated by association committees.
A few factors contributed to the change, the pandemic chief among them. Dennis has been working at the same salary for a decade while membership rolls decrease annually. Each year, the salary of the Association Manager represented a larger and larger percentage of the annual budget. This was unsustainable in the long term.
At least since the merger, Dennis has been working to centralize and expand availability of association resources in anticipation of the part-time staffing eventuality. Board members and committees have 24/7 access to a growing database of tools and resources for planning and executing their duties. Utilization of virtual meetings and these online resources will help make the Board of Directors and association committees better positioned to continue providing services and benefits to our members.
If you are interested in helping on a committee or as a board member, we are always interested in you! Application.
Related, the Board of Directors also approved an office move. Our office will remain in the same building at 4710 E. Broadway, but we will move around the corner to a somewhat larger two room space. Our address and suite number will not change. The move is part of a new five-year lease deal.
