MBA Bowlers Star at State Tournament

The 114th annual Wisconsin State Bowling Tournament is underway, with two of the eighteen weekends in the books.

Opening day ceremonies include a traditional “Joe Bowler” segment, where a first squad bowler is chosen to throw out the ceremonial first ball. At stake – 10 gold doubloons … or something like that. This year, the MBA’s Tim Herbrand of Sauk Prairie was randomly selected to don the yellow-trimmed crimson cape and gold crown. Tim represented well, with a six count in the cumbersome attire. And, it looks like he was throwing a ball won in an MBA city tournament ball raffle – where he and his Tim’s Trucking team are also annual participants.

Here’s Tim in action:

Sime Fires 300 in Doubles at State

The second weekend of the tournament yielded the first 300 game by none other than reigning Jim Grady Bowler of the Year Nate Sime. Sime recorded his perfect game in his first game of the doubles event at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes on Saturday, January 16. Sime is a fantastic doubles partner, apparently. He also had a 300 in his first game of doubles in the 2014-15 city tournament at Schwoegler’s – as did his partner Casey Gibney. Congratulations to Nate Sime!
