Madison Area Bowlers of the Year

Six area bowlers have been named as Bowlers of the Year by the Madison Area USBC for their outstanding individual performance in the 2017-18 bowling season.

Dan Mack Bowler of the Year – Chris Gibbons
Dee Fix Bowler of the Year – Gayle Seltzner
Lowell Maves Bowler of the Year – Andrew Olson
Sandy Stanley Bowler of the Year – Allison Dempski


Jim Grady Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Performance
Derek Eoff

Derek Eoff earns his third Bowler of the Year nod this year. He also won in 2013-14 and 2015-16.

He won his fifth Masters title, averaging 257 in qualifying. He led the Bullseye Masters league in average by nearly a mark with 229. He was in four Madison Area Scratch Tour finals, winning once, and leading qualifying in the Year End Championship.

Marge Pursell Award for Outstanding Individual Performance
Brittany Pollentier

Brittany Pollentier wins the inaugural Marge Pursell Award, dominating as the top woman bowler in the association.

She won the Madison Area Women’s Championships All Events Title, was high association individual average, and high association composite average. She rolled eight 700’s with a high of 799.

Dan Mack Award for Outstanding Individual Performance by a Senior Bowler
Chris Gibbons

Chris Gibbons won the Senior Masters, two association tournament Team Titles, a Madison Area Scratch Tour Title, and led that tour in points and average.

He qualified for match play at the USBC Senior Masters, and has already made match play twice in PBA50 national events.

Dee Fix Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Performance by a Senior Bowler
Gayle Seltzner

Gayle Seltzner wins the first Dee Fix Award, with a stellar 2017-18 tournament resume.

She notched the high sets for women in All Events and Singles in the Madison Area Senior Open, earning a Division 1 Championship.

She rolled a 708 in Doubles in the Madison Area Women’s Championships, and had the highest scratch qualifying block in the Madison Area Queens.

Lowell Maves Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Performance by a Youth Bowler
Andrew Olson

Andrew Olson captures the first Lowell Maves Award, excelling in league, tournament play, and on challenge conditions.

He posted the highest average of all youth, and third in the entire association at 242, with three perfect games and two 800 series. He averaged 204 in a challenge league.

He won three Badgerland Youth Bowler’s Tour events, and was on the National Champion Sun Prairie Boys Varsity Team.

Sandy Stanley Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Performance by a Youth Bowler
Allison Dempski

The first ever Sandy Stanley Award goes to Allison Dempski of Marshall for high average and superior tournament performance.

She had the highest female youth average of 215 at Prairie Lanes, with five 700’s – including a 764.

She won two Badgerland Youth Bowler’s Tour events, and placed in the top five in all six. She was also the champion of the U20 division of the Pepsi Tournament.
