As a proprietor of Bowl-A-Vard Lanes, Prairie Lanes, and Ten Pin Alley, Don Bussan has provided the Madison area with top flight centers for our local league, tournament, and fund-raising events since 1989.
Bussan’s centers have hosted Bowl for the Cure, Special Olympics, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and scores of other charitable events. His centers host high school, collegiate, city, state, and professional tournaments.
Following the fire that destroyed the original Bowl-A-Vard Lanes on East Washington Avenue, Bussan didn’t walk away. He built a brand new 4.5 million dollar, state of the art, 40 lane Bowl-A-Vard. Even as league membership rolls declined, he built again – this time the 32 lane Ten Pin Alley in Fitchburg.
It takes a special understanding to transcend business interests with a true support for the health of bowling. Don accomplishes this by embracing a “what is good for one is good for all’ philosophy. His centers thrive due to this, and bowling thrives, too.
The Madison Bowling Association and our members deeply appreciate the effort, care, generosity, and commitment that Don Bussan has given our sport.
Don joins his father, Bob Bussan, and uncle, Leo Bussan, in the MBA Hall of Fame.
