City Tournament Returns to Schwoegler’s

The 2014-15 Madison Bowling Association Championship Tournament, “City Tournament”, returns to the west side and 2010-11 host Schwoegler Entertainment Center.

2014-15 City Tournament Entry Form

We have reserved 20 lanes on each of 16 shifts to be held weekends starting Saturday, January 3 through Sunday, January 25. There will be two shifts each day; Saturdays 12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and Sundays 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The MBA Masters will follow on January 31.

This tournament is 100% handicapped.

Last time we were at Schwoeglers, it took +33 to cash and +124 to win Singles Division 1. It took +51 to cash and +118 to win Division 2.  I’ll be working to get the 2010-11 results up on the website soon. We are planning on using the same condition we had at Schwoegler last time, since it was well received and scores were reasonable.

The tournament features three divisions: two handicapped divisions, Division 1 for 200 and above, and Division 2 for 199 and below. There is a separate scratch division for teams/bowlers who do not wish to compete in the handicapped divisions.

The annual MBA Championship Tournament League Challenge is again being offered to MBA certified leagues, sponsored in part by Budweiser. Enter one or more teams from your league into the MBA Championship Tournament and in addition to qualifying for the regular tournament prize fund – you could win one of seven tournament bounties – up to $1,000.00 for your league.

Motiv will be the ball sponsor again this year, courtesy of Rob Bailey’s Pro Shop. In addition to the regular ball drawings, will also run the Captain’s Drawing and Squad Leader bonus again this year. Each team captain receives a separate ticket during your team event. We will give away at least three bowling balls to team captains at a drawing on January 31. Organizers of squads of eight or more teams earn a ball outright.

All tournament champions and titlists receive a dinner at the annual Dinner with the Champions, held each October at Prime Quarter restaurant in Madison.  Tournament plaques are distributed at the dinner, as will be the first set of City Tournament Challenge Coins.

If you haven’t bowled before and want to give it a try, enter the team event – it’s only $20.00 per person. Find four more bowlers, fill in your names, ID numbers, when you want to bowl – and we’ll handle the rest.  Each entry requires $50.00 deposit, with the balance due when you bowl. Plus, if you organize the team, you’ll get a chance at a new ball.

Each event (team, doubles, singles) is only $20.00 per person.  Optional events include All Events, Scratch All Events ($10.00 each), and Bonus Team, Bonus Doubles, and Bonus Combo ($5.00 each) – so there’s plenty of action if you want it.

Last year, we had 103 teams bowl, and paid out over $20,000 in prize money.

As always, we thank our tournament sponsors:
