Chad Dempski of Marshall has been selected by the Fred G. Engelke memorial committee as the recipient of the 2016 $1000.00 memorial scholarship.
The memorial scholarship is named in honor of the Madison Bowling Association Hall of Fame member who was an avid bowler in the area for more than 36 years. He won numerous MBA and state titles and served as an instructor and coach for youth bowlers. The scholarship program recognizes his commitment to the sport of bowling and his desire to support youth bowlers. The scholarship continues to be maintained by Dave and Zeena Engelke.
Chad is a product of the vaunted Sun Prairie program and has bowled 14 years as a youth. He has three 300 games, a high series of 817, and a high average of 223. His bowling career highlights include:
- 2013, High School District 4 Player of the Year
- 2014, 3rd Place Wisconsin Boys Team State High School Tournament
- 2015, 1st Place Wisconsin Boys Team State High School Tournament
- 2016, Wisconsin Boys High School Singles Champion
Off the lanes, Chad works part time at Prairie Lanes. He volunteers for a number of projects including four years with the Special Olympics tournament. He has also worked as a bowling coach in the Middle School Bowling Program for four years.
Academically, Chad was academic “M” for two years. He plans on studying accounting upon enrollment at UW-Whitewater.
Congratulations to Chad Dempski who, of all the fantastic applicants, put together a well-rounded application with disciplines in bowling, academics, and volunteerism. There is a world of potential in this young man and the Madison Bowling Association will be thrilled to honor him at the annual Hall of Fame and Bowler Recognition dinner on August 18, 2016.
