The path to victory for Skau began with a 606 start, and she hung on to the eighth qualifying spot – despite a shaky final two games. She returned to form in match play, shooting 624. In the first round, Skau defeated qualifying leader Caitlin Powers 223 (24) to 205 (22). Reigning Bowler of the Year Amanda Turner fell next, 237 (24) to 199 (10). Skau took down the third high qualifier Sarah Maciejeski in the title match, 236 (24) to 212 (23).
Schwoegler roared into the seventh qualifying spot of the Masters bracket with a 269-270 final two games and a 1224 total. Schwoegler knocked off second high qualifier Danny Verdecchia in the first round, 255-213. In the semi-finals, he just got by Madison Area Hall of Famer Jeff Richgels 213-211. The championship match featured perennial favorite and reigning Bowler of the Year Derek Eoff. It generally takes a lot to beat Eoff, and Schwoegler came up big with a 265 to Eoff’s 247.
With 55 entries, Schwoegler earned $400.00 for the win. The Queens had 18 entries, and Skau took home $274.00 plus a $100.00 bonus for defeating Schwoegler in the 11thframe.com roll-off. Skau didn’t need any of her 24 pins of handicap in the match, winning 220-212.
