Z. Charles Reithmeyer

April 30, 1940 – October 22, 2014

CORRECTION: The visitation is Monday, October 27, 2014, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The original article said Monday, October 26.

Madison Bowling Association past-President Z. Charles Reithmeyer passed away last night at the age of 74.

Charlie was a member of the MBA for 53 years, first appearing in the 1961-62 yearbook as Zeno Reithmeyer. The then 21 year old posted his first average, a 148 in the “Fun” league. He became an accomplished player, typically posting averages in the 190’s with a career high of 212 in the Monona Golfers league at Village Lanes in 1996-97.  He rolled a perfect game in that same league on February 8, 2007.

Charlie’s service to the MBA spanned the past 13 years.  He was elected to the MBA Board of Directors in the 2001-02 season, and in 2005-06  was elected vice-president.  After that three year term, he was elected MBA President.  He served two terms, concluding his service to the association at the end of this past season.

His care and concern for the members of our association was evidenced through his appearance at scores of city and senior city tournament shifts, his presiding over the annual MBA Hall of Fame dinner, and his focus on the growth and prosperity of the MBA.  Much of the success of Madison Bowling Association events and tournaments over the past six years can be credited to the influence and guidance of Z. Charles Reithmeyer.

On behalf of the Madison Bowling Association officers, directors, and members, we thank you for your years of service.  We will miss you, and we will always remember.

Visitation will be Monday, October 27, 2014, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 5101 Schofield St, Monona, WI 53716.   Services will be Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m.
