Jacob Morris Leads White T’s in Stellar Effort

Fifteen of sixteen squads are through the grueling test of a City Tournament, compiling 1190 series and 3570 games.  To date, 240 series and 1044 games have been over average.  Tough indeed.

Somebody forgot to tell the White T’s, from Viking Lanes.  The team of Pete Natvig, Tim Thorson, Jacob Morris, Ryan Angell, and Tim Morris combined to bowl 364 pins over average – more than 300 pins higher than any other team in the tournament so far.  In fact, they are just the fifth team able to muster average on the demanding shot.

The team also holds the high scratch team total with 3,391 (1,104, 1,165, 1,122), eclipsing the 3,386 effort posted by Scratch Division leaders 11th Frame.com. High scratch efforts win official MBA ‘Titles’, regardless of the division entered.  Division winners earn ‘Championships’.

Current Standings

The effort was led by the not quite 20 year old Jacob Morris who fired a tournament high of 822.  The lefty two-hander rolled games of 267, 266, and 289. This is the third 800 in the tournament this year (Eric Pederson, 807; Heath Haug, 802). The second best bowler in the Morris family, Tim, added 728.

Cory Baker, bowling out of the Merchants League at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes, took the top spot in Division 2 Singles from MBA Hall of Famer Phil Dowling. The 184 average Baker chained games of 203, 225, and 236 for a 664 set – 112 pins over average.

Division 2 (averages 199 or less) Singles Event bowlers have really shone in the tournament. This division is the only one requiring an over average effort to cash.
