The Madison Area USBC is proud to announce that four individuals have been elected to the Association Hall of Fame. Karine Aslakson will be inducted for Meritorious Service, and Rick Erce, Chris Pounders, and Brian Hoffman will be inducted for Superior Performance. All four will be honored at the Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday, August 13 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Madison, where the association will also recognize Gavin Vossekuil and Kaylee Kleinheinz as its Stars of the Future.
Karine Aslakson | Meritorious Service
A sanctioned bowler since 1976, Karine marks 50 years of membership this season. She has served as a Director of the Madison Area USBC since 2018, following years as a Director of the Madison Women’s Bowling Association prior to the merger. She has chaired the Scholarship Committee for the past five years, serves as secretary and treasurer for multiple leagues at Spartan Bowl, and volunteers regularly at association tournaments and events, from check-in tables to the annual Golf Outing.
Karine has stayed just as active on the lanes. She will bowl her 50th Wisconsin State Tournament in 2026 and has reserved her spot in Charlotte for her 25th consecutive USBC Women’s Championships. She received the Madison WBA Exceptional Member Award in 2013.
Chris Pounders | Superior Performance
Chris has been a fixture at the top of Madison’s scratch bowling scene for a quarter century. A 27-year member, he has won 22 association titles, a total that includes 17 Madison Area Scratch Tour victories and five City championships. His MAST wins span more than two decades, from the 2000-2001 season through 2023-2024, a remarkable run of sustained excellence against the area’s best.
His City titles include four consecutive team championships from 2022-2023 through 2025-2026 and a doubles title in 2019-2020, when he fired a 784 set. On the national stage, Chris finished third in doubles at the USBC Open Championships. He carries a high average of 235 with a high game of 300 and a high series of 837.
Brian Hoffman | Superior Performance
Brian’s power game has produced some of the biggest numbers in association history. A 25-year member, he has rolled an astounding 53 perfect games along with a high series of 867 and a high average of 235.
He has won nine association titles, including seven on the Madison Area Scratch Tour and two City championships. His City wins include the 2003-2004 singles title, where his 786 set topped a field of nearly 400 bowlers, and a team title the following season.
Rick Erce | Superior Performance
A 27-year member, Rick has captured 17 association titles, including 11 in the Senior Open, three Senior Masters championships, and three City titles. He has been named to the Senior All-City First Team six times and holds a high average of 242, with 49 perfect games and 30 series of 800 or better, topped by an 836.
Rick shares the Wisconsin state record three-person team score of 2,443 with Willie Feltz and Nate Smith. He also spent six years as head co-coach at La Follette High School, leading the program to two state appearances and earning Coach of the Year honors in 2016-2017.
Kaylee Kleinheinz | Star of the Future
Kaylee bowls in the Prairie Lanes Thursday Storm Majors, where she carries a high game of 258 and a high series of 610. She is a five-time Mountain Dew Bowler of the Month, a two-time Madison Area All-Area Youth Girls Team selection, and a BYBT titleholder. She also gives back to the sport, volunteering at both the 2025 Wisconsin State Youth Championship and the 2024 Wisconsin State Open Championship tournaments.
Gavin Vossekuil | Star of the Future
Gavin has bowled competitively at the local and state levels for 13 years. He helped Westfield Area High School to a District 9 Championship in 2025 and two State appearances, and his individual résumé includes a BYBT title, a Pepsi State berth, a high game of 300, and a high series of 804. He is just as accomplished off the lanes, holding officer roles in 4-H for six years and earning the “I Dare You” National Leadership Award in 2025.
